Bird Banter Birthday

Hi!
It's the weekend, unfortunately it's my weekend to work but I am planning to enjoy the day times! I managed a couple of hours tidying in my craft room today (how does it get sooo messy all the time?) and I also finished making a couple of cards from the 'box of shame' too, so all round a good day!
So, today I have the card I made for the hubsters birthday recently, I used the Bird Banter stamps for this one and even though it's not very masculine he didn't complain ;-) That's the sign of a husband married to a crafter! #goodhusband
I used Blends (sadly now not orderable until May) to colour these cute budgies, you could of course use an aqua painter and ink pads instead.
Then I added the die cut Happy Birthday over some of the FREE Sale-a-Bration papers "Bubbles and Fizz" which are only available 'till the end of the month!
I used the stitched edge framelis and layered them with a scalloped layering oval to cut out this image.
If you have a super long wish list remember now is also a fab-u-lous time to join SU! as a demo to.
If you wish you can message me to chat through your options :-)
Well, that's today card for you, what did you think?
I really hope you get a chance to be crafty today :-)

Heart Happiness meets Brusho in Navy and Gold

Hello and welcome to another challenge with Inspire. Create. and this week (#14) it's a sketch to work from! My favourite, in fact I actually made two cards for this challenge, (I'll share the other one here tomorrow ;-)) So, let's start with the sketch...
Hopefully you can see the sketch in my card but I have taken it as an interpretation rather than too literally ;-)
I started with watercolour paper and brusho adding water, powder, drying, then repeating with adding more water and powder then drying again until I was happy with the end result. Then when it was completely dry I used an embossing buddy (very important) before I stamped and heat embossed with the mini hearts from Heart Happiness.
I layered three crumb cake die cut "love" before adding a gold foil one to the top, I think it looks almost molten... Underpinning with gold thread to tie in the gold.
I tore the crumb cake card and embossed it with the scattered hearts folder (I just realised this folder is retired, so sorry) you could try the sequin or softly falling folder instead, sponge with matching ink and adhere so the blue inked area peeks out from behind.
TIP: Run the blue watercoloured pieces through a navy ink pad (or use a marker) before adhering so the white edges don't show.
So, I do hope you enjoyed today's card? I know the rest of the DT will have a whole heap of inspiration for you and there's also a surprise! Do hop over to the ICC blog to see, HERE

Eclipse Card for a 21st Birthday using Mixed Drinks

Hello there!
Today I want to share with you the card I made when my eldest turned 21 recently :-) How old do feel??? Lol! To tell you a (not very funny) story he kindly pointed out how much younger Emma Bunton looked on TV the other day considering she is the same age as me! Erm, yes, thanks for that, son... Time to trade that kid in I think... ;-)
Anyway, I wanted to do an Eclipse card and have his name and age on it so I made this card using the Mixed Drinks stamps....
I started by stamping the beer and bubbles and I coloured in the froth too before die cutting his name and age.
I layered the white card, flat onto navy card before adding the popped up sections with foam strips, so quick!
I needed a small-ish gift box so I used one of the silver mini gable boxes and decorated it to match the card.
  Adding Gold Faceted Gems...
...as well as some cute, corduroy ribbon to secure the box closed (and make it take a bit longer to open ;-))
And that's it, my biggest baby is 21! And what a lovely young man he has grown to be (apart from when he's insulting me, of course, lol!) Seriously though, we are super proud of him :-)
Well, that's it from me for today, I'll be back tomorrow with another card for a new challenge with Inspire. Create. I do hope you'll join me here?

Cake Soiree with Watercoloured Stripes.

Hello there,
I have a watercoloured stripes card for you today in Wild Wasabi using the very pretty Cake Soiree stamps and dies. I decided to adhere the die cut area flat and pop up the larger piece. I do like this layout on a card and I haven't done it for a while so it felt good to revisit it...
I had coloured this little cake with my blends and then popped it in my "basket of shame." Which is a rather dramatic name for a basket I have of half finished toppers/stamped images/already coloured images, ready to make into a card. The problem is I have far too many half finished projects, hence the recent re-naming of said basket from the much gentler "projects to-do basket" ;-)
I also made this watercoloured stripes striped background, using Wild Wasabi ink on shimmery white card, a-g-e-s ago and had it ready to use *-* Will I ever learn? ;-)
The stamps and dies are available as a bundle but don't forget, just 'till the end of March, the framelits are available as a Sale-a-Bration item. Please use the special code for this if choosing the dies or any of the "final wave" items as a SaB choice. More info on SaB choices can be found HERE.
Sentiment is from the Cake Soiree set too and I stamped it on Vellum card before layering it onto more wasabi, hiding the glue with silver enamel hearts.
Right, well that's todays card! What do you think? Let me know in the comments :-)
